Being an American is a two day, twelve-hour workshop presented by Law-Related Education (LRE). During the workshop, participants receive scholarly background and materials appropriate for grades 5-12 based on curriculum from the Bill of Rights Institute, extended and enriched with TEKS based materials and activities from LRE. Resources, methods, and discussions offer in-depth scholarly background relating to the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, the Bill of Rights as well as civic values and significant individuals listed in the TEKS. Teachers will participate with a scholar and consultant, in discussions and hands-on strategies to apply the content in the classroom.
