Liam Learns…7 Principles of the Constitution
Liam Learns is a video designed to help teach and reinforce the seven principles of constitutionalism. Each video has as its main character Liam, a newly naturalized citizen of the United States, was hired to act in a video series on these principles. As Liam tries to explain each principle, he needs help from his friends to get it totally correct. The videos range from 2 to 4 minutes in length and are available in closed caption format if needed. The teacher may utilize these videos as an initial teach of the principles or the videos may be assigned for the students to watch before class if they want to use a flipped classroom approach.
Under the resource section, you will find lesson plans that accompanies each principle. In the lesson plans, a graphic organizer is included for students to capture the key ideas of the concept. Additionally, a stimulus document is provided illustrating each principle for Texas History, American History to 1877, U.S. History from 1877, and Government. These stimulus documents are designed to be used during the appropriate historical time period to review and reinforce the student’s understanding of the principle.
A special thanks to the Texas Bar Foundation and the State Bar of Texas for funding this project.
