This unit of study has been divided into two content modules.
The Constitution Content Module - Part 1 considers how and why the United States Constitution was written, the compromises and the ratification process.
The Constitution Content Module - Part 2 presents an overview of the U.S. Constitution, the Bill of Rights, and has students examine the Principles of the Constitution.

Using primary sources, students will identify the reasons for the establishment of the colony at Plymouth and the importance of the Mayflower Compact to the growth of representative government.

By matching the event with the cause and effect cards, students review the events that played a role in causing the American Revolution.
Students read the Declaration of Independence to find textual evidence to support or refute their predictions on statements about the document.

This manipulative lesson allows students to show their understanding of how each branch of government is able to check the power of the other branches.
This review activity has students review key facts and principles of the U.S. Constitution. Students ask and answer questions using a set of cards.
In this lesson, students examine the rights contained in the U.S. Bill of Rights and demonstrate an understanding of those rights as they play Bingo.
After examining the contributions of John, Abigail, and John Quincy Adams, students will create living memorials to depict their role in American history.
The election of 1800 and the appointment of the Midnight Judges set the stage for the landmark Supreme Court case of Marbury v Madison. In this lesson, students will understand the significant events, figures, and decision of this case.
In this lesson, students describe the contributions of significant political and social leaders such as Elizabeth Cady Stanton as they examine the Declaration of Sentiments that was drafted at the Seneca Falls Convention of 1848.
This lesson has students process the contributions of George Washington and Abraham Lincoln by having them identify the artifacts that would be on each of their desks. Each artifact represents information the student has discovered about the President’s term in office.
This short writing assignment has students write an editorial from different perspectives on events surrounding the Civil War.
